Smart opener for your intercom

Open the building door with your phone

With the intercom you already have, including 2-wire and video intercoms.

SoundKey is a device that connects to the intercom you already have (analogue, 2-wire or video intercom) and opens the building door when someone rings: because you switched it on from your phone, or because it's a booking's arrival day. No building work and no need to replace the intercom.

  • 2-wire and video intercoms
  • Battery powered, no socket
  • No need to replace the intercom
  • Airbnb and Booking reservations
SoundKey next to the intercom, wired to the door-release button door release SOUND KEY ring…
It hears the buzzer and presses your door-release button. It doesn't mimic signals, so the brand and the wiring don't matter.
How it works

Three steps, and the door only opens when you want it to

1

Connect it to your intercom

Two wires to the door-release button on your intercom handset, with no building work and no new equipment. SoundKey sits right next to it, in its own case.

2

Choose when it opens

Switch it on from your phone for the next few hours, or link it to your Airbnb and Booking reservations so it only opens on arrival day.

3

They ring, the door opens

When someone rings at the street door, SoundKey hears the buzzer and presses the door-release button. The rest of the time, it opens for nobody.

The app

Everything from your phone, nothing to install

See the status of each door, your reservations and who has come in. And send anyone you want to let in a link: they don't need an account or an app.

SoundKey app (in Spanish): door screen with the Open door button, the battery level and the Listening status
Open or switch on the door from your phone
SoundKey app (in Spanish): Airbnb and Booking reservations imported via iCal, and the guest list with their links
Airbnb and Booking reservations, and guests
Guest page (in Spanish): the I'm about to ring button, and the three steps to get in
Your guest taps “I'm about to ring” and walks in
Compatibility

If your door-release button goes down when you press it, SoundKey can press it

Other smart intercom openers mimic the intercom's electrical signals, and every 2-wire brand uses its own protocol. SoundKey doesn't mimic anything: it presses your button. That's why it also works where the others can't.

Who it's for

Built for holiday lets, handy at home too

Airbnb and Booking hosts →

Self check-in at the building door too. Import your reservations via iCal and it only opens when your guest rings, on their arrival day. No meeting anyone, no leaving keys.

At home

Let in a delivery driver, family or whoever looks after your elderly relatives, even when you're out. Send them a link with the days and hours you choose, or switch the door on from your phone for the next few hours.

Questions

What people ask us most

How do I know if my intercom is compatible?

Press the door-release button on the intercom in your flat. If it's a button that goes down (a physical push button), SoundKey can press it, whatever the brand and however many wires it has. If it's a touch button, compatibility is in development. See the full guide.

Does it open for anyone who rings?

No. It only opens when you've switched it on from your phone, or during a booking's arrival window. The rest of the time the buzzer rings as usual and nothing happens.

Do I need building work or a new intercom?

No. You open the cover of the intercom in your flat and connect two wires to the door-release button; on some models they need to be soldered. The intercom keeps working exactly as before.

How long does the battery last?

It has a rechargeable lithium battery and charges over USB-C, like a phone. We're measuring real battery life on devices in everyday use and will publish the figures once testing is finished. The app warns you when the battery is low.
